Anyone know of a reputable house in Boston, or close? Thanks

Bendicion to my elders, alafia to all!

I am planning on making a fan for my Yemaya, and I was wondering what feathers would be appropriate.  I've done some research and have found duck and peacock feathers mentioned.  My path is Okute, so I'm thinking duck might not be appropriate.  So should I go with peacock, or is there perhaps another that might be more appropriate?  Thanking you in advance!

Do you think it's possible to be a santero, or at least honor the orishas, and be an atheist as well? I have a friend who loves Eleggua, but is also a diehard militant atheist. I told her, "But Eleggua is an aspect of a god that you don't believe in." She said, "Exactly!" I asked her to explain but she had to go to work and promised she would later.

This really has me puzzled. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject. Not necessarily on my friend's perspective, but on the idea of atheism and Lucumi in general.

What's the difference between a regular reading and an Ifa reading?

Forgive-ness please if they happen to be the same. I am genuinely not sure.

Which reading would be best for someone just beginning on this path?

I am in Orlando, FL, and am in need of reading. I just dont know where to begin.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The city of Euless, TX has been ordered to pay the legal bills for Jose Merced, the santero who successfully sued the city for the right to practice animal sacrifice as a part of his religion.

This is certainly good news, but as stated in the article, we may be seeing more of this type of thing in the future as the Afro-Caribbean religions take more of a foothold in the US.  And the fact that Mr. Merced's legal bills came to almost half a million dollars is, well, it's stunning.  Wow.
